MERCY first responded to the crisis in Gaza since 2008. They have since established a consistent physical presence from 2011. Thirteen years on, Gaza and its internally displaced Palestinian population is facing starvation and relentless violence with over 30,000 deaths to date with an incredibly heavy toll on women and children. As of 16 March 2024, MERCY has established a medical point which needs to urgently expand into a full medical facility. There is no better time to show a strong support for providing humanitarian relief on the ground to the Palestinians.
This auction is aimed to equip MERCY with adequate funds to secure medical assistance, maternal healthcare, mental health and psychosocial support and the distribution of essential needs for the Palestinians in Gaza.
The organisation of this fundraising auction was possible with the support of Suryani Senja Alias of CULT Gallery as curator and coordinator, Henry Butcher Art Auctioneers as auction partner, Datuk Nick Sharif Lough as Auctioneer and CIMB as venue partner. More than 25 artworks will be available for auction due to the generosity of prominent Malaysian artists who rallied to support MERCY for Gaza. In addition, generous donors such as Tan Sri Azman Mokhtar, Rizman Ruzaini, Datin Sim and Alia Ibrahim Hussein and Sonny Bill Williams have provided personal items for auction.
